The Ojeda Works column is how I work; contract and pricing terms are on the Terms page. The agency, freelancer and relative columns are my take on common setups, not any specific company. Ask anyone you hire directly.

Ask anyone you hire these 5 questions

Google publishes its own tips for working with someone who manages your Google listing. Four of these questions are based on that page; the fifth is mine.

  1. Will I stay the owner of my Google listing?
Google: “Only profile owners can control who has access and can update permissions at any time.”
  2. Will you show me how my listing performs?
Google: “You have the right to know your profile’s performance, such as how many users interact with, view, and click on your Business Profile.”
  3. Do you guarantee I'll show up first? (If they say yes, walk away.)
Google: “Third parties can’t promise nor directly influence your business’s ranking on Google Search or Maps through any special means.”
  4. Can I get the agreement and the prices in writing?
Google: “Before you agree to work with a third party, get an official copy of your agreement that clearly details the services and their costs.”
  5. Who exactly does the work, and can they talk to my customers in Spanish?

When Ojeda Works is not the right fit

Questions people actually ask

Is a marketing agency worth it for a small business?

It can be, when the budget is big enough for a team to spend real hours on your business. My take: for a small local business, the bigger question is who actually does the work and whether you can talk to them. Ask the 5 questions above before you sign anything.

Should my nephew run my Instagram?

He can help, and it's often free. My take: the risk isn't the posts, it's the logins. If the account is in his name and he moves on, you start over. Make sure the business owns the account and he is added as a helper.

Do I need a long-term contract to hire Ojeda Works?

No. There is no long-term contract: monthly plans cancel anytime by email, and every job is priced in writing before work starts. You stay the owner of your Google listing; I'm added as a manager.

Can anyone guarantee my business shows up first on Google?

No. Google's own help page says third parties can't promise or directly influence your ranking on Google Search or Maps through any special means. Anyone who guarantees it is telling you something Google says they can't do.
